TECTONIC
has several Crew Chief, Cadd Technician, Laser Scanning Technician and
Instrument Person positions available to work within the Survey
Department of our Corporate Mountainville, NY Office.
Crew Chief:
The
essential functions of this position include operating survey
instruments such as total stations, data collectors, GPS, and other
standard survey equipment, collecting information required to carry out
new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs,
computer records, and other relevant information, and the compilation of
information necessary to stake projects for construction using
engineering plans. They will conduct surveys to determine the locations
of natural features and man made structures on the Earth's surface,
underground, and underwater using electronic distance measuring
equipment and other surveying instruments. Essential functions also
include the direction and supervision of day to day work of subordinate
members of surveying parties, laying out grids, determining horizontal
and vertical controls, maintaining survey equipment and vehicles, and
all other duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess the following qualifications for the Crew Chief position:
- Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of surveying experience and demonstrate a working knowledge of surveying equipment;
- Must be detail oriented, and ability to perform basic mathematical calculations;
- Knowledge of Nikon Nivo or Trimble Robot equipment a plus;
- Must be able to review and understand written civil construction and architectural plans and specifications;
- Must be available to work overtime as needed, and be available for frequent travel for overnight assignments;
- Must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent; AAS in Surveying a plus;
- LSIT is a plus;
- Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Certification;
- Must possess a valid, clean, driver’s license.
Instrument Person:
The
essential functions of this position include the set up, maintenance,
and operation of all field survey equipment, the operation of survey
instruments in the field including total stations, levels, data
collectors, GPS, and other standard survey equipment. They will also
prepare survey sites and remove all obstacles, including debris, brush,
tree limbs, etc. Essential functions include maintaining neat and
accurate field records and survey notes, assisting the Crew Chief in
field day to day operations, maintaining field vehicles and supplies,
uploading and downloading data collection information and photographs,
and all other duties as assigned.
Candidates must possess the following qualifications for the Instrument Person position:
- Candidates
must have a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience; surveying
experience and the ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of
surveying equipment is a plus;
- Knowledge of Nikon Nivo or Trimble Robot equipment a plus;
- Must be detail oriented, and have ability to perform basic mathematical calculations;
- Must be available to work overtime as needed, and be available for frequent travel for overnight assignments;
- Must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent; AAS in Surveying a plus;
- Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Certification within a reasonable period of time;
- Must possess a valid, clean, driver’s license.
Survey Cadd Technician:
Essential
functions of this position include performing reduction of survey field
data, photographs, and sketches, the calculations of and analysis of
field data to develop detailed technical survey plans, and preparation
of survey maps, including boundary and topographic surveys, plans, cross
sections, and profiles using CADD methods. Additional duties include
communicating with project managers, surveyors, and colleagues to modify
drawings in accordance with project specifications, and printing,
copying, and organizing CADD drawings. Occasional site visits may be
required from time to time.
Candidates must possess the following qualifications for Survey Cadd Technician position:
- Must
possess a minimum of 3 years of AutoCAD experience; survey experience
preferred, and point cloud / 3D modeling experience is a plus;
- Must possess HS Diploma or equivalent; AS or Certificate in Architecture or CADD Design is a plus;
- Must be detailed oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills;
- May require a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to perform occasional site visits.
Laser Scanning Technician:
Essential
functions of this position include performing on-site 3D laser
scanning, compiling, registering, and reporting of the collected data to
generate 3D models and presentation materials. The Laser Scanning
Technician will also perform field visits, including loading the
equipment for transportation, set-up of equipment at sites, and
demobilizing equipment when scanning is complete. The Laser Scanning
Technician will also be required to compile various reports, documents,
and/or drawings of findings, and all other duties as required.
Candidates must possess the following qualifications:
- A
minimum of 2 years of direct experience working with Leica Scanner and
software; previous experience evaluating construction documents and
surveying is a plus;
- Comprehensive knowledge of scanning methods fundamentals, survey equipment, and its operations;
- Must have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 required;
- Must possess HS Diploma or equivalent;
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong problem solving and analytical skills;
- Must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
- Requires a valid driver’s license to perform field site visits.
Physical Requirements:
While
performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is
constantly required to assume a stationary position for prolonged
periods of time, and handle inspect, and/or feel documents, materials,
and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The
employee will also need to process manual and computer generated
reports, and will be required to communicate using the Corporate e-mail
and telephone systems. The employee is frequently required to move
around on the job-site, including ascending or descending the landscape,
and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary materials
and equipment; they are sometimes required to do so in hazardous
conditions, such as in woods, water, snow, etc.. The employee must
frequently lift and/or move equipment up to 30 lbs., and occasionally
lift and/or move equipment up to 75 lbs.. This position involves
regularly operating a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining
stationary for extended periods of time. In accordance with the level of
visual detail required for this position, close vision, depth
perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required for this
position in order to detect non-conformities.
